Experience

Maija Jackson has been a principal with Franklin & Prokopik since its founding in 1999 and has 30+ years of workers’ compensation insurance defense experience. She regularly represents employers and insurers both directly and through third-party administrators in courts at all levels throughout Maryland. Maija has successfully defended national and regional clients of various sizes against claims such as occupational injuries, slip and falls, overexertion, harmful substance exposure, workplace violence, and transportation accidents. Outside the courtroom, she helps employers develop light-duty programs encouraging return to work, and also provides frequent complimentary client training. Prior to being one of the founders of the firm, she handled workers’ compensation matters for several other local law firms in Baltimore.

Activities

Maija is a past president of the board of the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Educational Association (MWCEA), a past chair of the Workers’ Compensation Committee of the Bar Association of Baltimore City (BABC), a member of the Baltimore County Bar Association (BCBA) and a Fellow of the Baltimore Bar Foundation. A local girl to the core, she is a graduate of the Bryn Mawr School, the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Baltimore School of Law.

Maija holds a black belt in Taekwondo, enjoys daily walks with her dog, playing pool, volleyball, and spending time with her husband and two adult sons.
