Experience
Scott Phillips has broad experience in all aspects of civil litigation, having represented large and small companies and individuals in various state and federal courts. For nearly 30 years, Scott has litigated and tried cases before judges and juries. Scott handles all aspects of case management and analysis, including witness depositions, expert witness development, settlement negotiations, trial, and appeal. His practice includes the defense of toxic tort claims (including asbestos, radiation from cell phones, and alleged defective/unsafe pharmaceuticals), aviation accidents, and claims involving trade secret/non-compete covenants, commercial leases, wage and hour violations, injunctions, construction defect, and mechanic’s liens. Scott has also briefed and argued numerous cases in appellate courts.
Scott serves as National Coordinating Counsel for a nationwide supplier of various types of equipment and coordinates the company’s defense of asbestos lawsuits nationally. In this capacity, Scott has taken and defended hundreds of depositions of expert and fact witnesses, challenged the admissibility of expert witness testimony and prevailed in extricating his clients from cases at the summary stage. Scott has also represented manufacturers of boilers, pumps, and valves in asbestos litigation.
Scott has achieved an A/V rating from Martindale Hubbel, the highest possible peer review for ethics and legal ability.
Activities
Scott is an active commercial instrument-rated pilot and a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight East, which provides air transportation to patients in need of medical care. Scott is a life-long Johns Hopkins lacrosse fan – go Jays!
